In today’s digital age, a university’s online presence is often the first point of contact for prospective students, faculty, alumni, and the broader community. An institution’s website is not merely a digital brochure but a dynamic gateway to information, interaction, and engagement. Old Dominion University (ODU), a venerable institution with a rich history dating back to 1930, recognized the need to evolve its digital presence to meet the ever-growing expectations of its diverse stakeholders.
Our Process
The redesign of Old Dominion University’s website was a meticulously planned and executed process that encompassed several critical phases. It all began with extensive research and engagement with focus groups consisting of students, faculty, staff, and leadership. These sessions provided invaluable insights into user needs, pain points, and expectations, shaping the project’s foundation. With these insights in hand, the redesign team initiated a comprehensive site structure and design. Redefining the website’s information architecture and visual design to ensure intuitive navigation and content discoverability.
The development phase involved translating these designs into functional web pages and implementing the site’s technical infrastructure. Custom components and interactive features were developed to enhance user engagement and provide a unique online experience tailored to ODU’s specific needs. Finally, the migration phase ensured a seamless transition from the old website to the new one, safeguarding existing content and data integrity while unveiling the redesigned platform to the world. These distinct phases collectively underpinned the success of Old Dominion University’s website redesign, resulting in a digital presence that truly reflects the institution’s commitment to excellence and innovation.
A Modern, Innovative Redesign
ODU’s website is now as innovative as they are. A highly usable back end, beautiful front end on a technically superior platform.
